1/20/20, the Day of the VA 2A Rally.

It is the morning of 1/20/20, MLK Day, and while the huge Shooting, Hunting, & Outdoors Trade show (SHOT) is going on in Las Vegas, thousands of civil rights and pro-gun advocates are gathering in Richmond, VA to protest the actions of Michael Bloomberg's bought and paid for politicians.

The question is this another Tea Party movement, apparently born strong but to quickly die on the vine due to Conservative's natural reluctance to form a cohesive whole ("just leave me alone"), or is this our Lexington?

When one looks at how all three branches of government have been stacked against the continuing effectiveness of the US Constitution, this may be too little, too late, no matter how peaceful or violent things get.

Many people on the Right say the Constitution has failed and that's why we are here.  I would counter with the idea that it's not we whom the Constitution failed, but that we failed the Constitution.  We have what we need right there for the rule of a Representative Republic.

How can that be, we're well over 200 years old and society changes?!?

It does and it doesn't.  Mankind doesn't change even if our technology does.  The trappings may change, but the core problems remain the same.  The Constitution, and by extension, the Forefathers, spent little time dithering over technology because they understood we weren't always going to be living in an age of horse drawn carriages and wood sailing ships.  They focused on mankind and how to behave in a legal construct which would ensure that the widest swath of humanity possible had the ability to try, and fail, and try again, at bettering their own future.

So, today, while people debate AR15's vs flintlocks and urban vs rural needs, remember that the Second Amendment isn't about hunting, or even guns, it's all about controlling the government regardless of where technology has taken us.

"... shall not be infringed."  Pretty clear.

Something tells me that today will be a turning point.  We may not get the perspective for a few years to see it, but, this time, the government chose to walk up to the People and draw a line in the sand.  Just how dearly do we hold our freedom and how much we trust the courts will determine today's outcome.
